The Christmas Dinner was again at Three Rivers Country Club. For those of you who were unable to attend, you missed a great night, probably the best yet! A lovely meal, huge raffle, the presentation of awards by our president and a great cabaret by JOHN DERRIS plus some close-up magic at the tables. A wonderful atmosphere!

WAYNE DOBSON – SUNDAY 25TH NOVEMBER. It was a privilege for us to welcome Wayne and we are thrilled that Michael Alderman managed to secure this date. We invited magicians from all the other clubs in the area and we had a full audience. It was great, Although his MS controls his life now and he is in a wheelchair, Wayne demonstrated several tricks and his quick witted responses and quips were funny. He had many items on sale and judging by the numbers of magi’s around the table, his wife was very busy.

CLOSE UP COMPETITION

This event was a great night with a full itinerary of performers all competing for the club shield. A huge variety of acts were seen by the audience. We had 3 judges who decided the order of awards.

There was a special ‘mention’ for our lady magician member Pauline, it was her first competition and she did really well. The competition was a great standard overall.

STAGE COMPETITION

This event was held in Woodham Walter Village Hall with lots of the villagers coming along to witness a good competition. Mike Alderman compered the evening and introduced 5 acts. The results are:
FIRST Gavin Davey; SECOND Richard Graham; THIRD Keith Norman. Again a variety of effects were performed. This event was followed by a variety show arranged for us by Ron Burrell. We had magic, songs and comedy along with juggling and escapology. What a great night. Thank you Ron.

The new look DVD library is now available. Our librarian Richard Stevens is pleased to offer the dvds to members at a small rental charge. This library will be open for members during Tuesday evenings at The Cricketers and Richard will close ‘for business’ halfway through the evening so that he too can enjoy the camaraderie and magic of the evening. The library will be brought to the Thursday club nights but time will be limited on some of those nights due to lectures. If you are returning dvd’s please ensure these are handed in early in the evening to Richard so he can update his files early.
